New Horror Network, 2 more days til Halloween!

I was watching the horror movie fest that AMC is brilliantly airing this year, when I saw a commercial for an all new channel just for horror and monster movies, called Monsters HD. They have a website up now with air times, at http://www.monsterstv.com/. You will have to check your local cable listings for what channel, but the prospects of an all monster movie network in High Def is very promising indeed. Also, they say that the movies are uncut. I have been burned by the 'Uncut' promises on DVD's, so I will have to tune in and see if it is true....

Speaking of the AMC horror movie marathon, I have seen so many films in the last couple of days it would be hard to go through them all. The one that is on the T.V. right now is the 1998 remake of 'Psycho' with Vince Vaughn as Bates. He does a pretty good job, but I laughed when he is in the dress at the end. Suprisingly, there are quite a few stars in this film, including Viggo Mortensen and William H. Macy. Not bad, pretty faithful to the original. Next on is Pet Semetary, which I haven't seen in years. I don't know if I can watch Pet Semetary 2 without thinking of Mr. Krabs saying 'Me Lucky Penny!' though...

The marathon ends on Halloween night, hosted by Rob Zombie and it looks to be the most promising of the networks horror offerings. It has gotten better over the last couple of years. I can't remember which year it was, but a few years back, there was hardly ANY horror movies shown at all on any of the networks the week before Halloween. Someone must have slapped some sense into them...

Pet Semetary is pretty damn creepy. I still can't watch the part where Fred Gwynn get's his Achilles tendon sliced even though it's not as graphic as what they'd come up with nowadays. It's horrifying on two levels. It's one of those maimings that I can actually feel, you know, like when somebody kicks somebody in the nuts on tv (You'll have to take my word for it). Couple that with the fact that Herman Munster is getting killed and the whole scene psychologically scarred me.

It was very creepy, the title card AMC used for it was funny as hell though. It was the little boy after he 're-joined' his family, with the most evil "I am going to kick you in the nuts" look. He obviously knew it would hurt! haha

Fred Gwynn was awesome in this, and everything he did. When that happened, it just made me clutch my tendons. It is a very vulnerable spot, and it is happening to the nicest guy around. That little kid was a shithead! lol This type of movie is a lot better than what is out today because they play on those emotions, and don't just throw intestines and brains at you. (Exceptions to that rule is zombie films, which wouldn't be fun without them)

Right now Willard is on, which is another film I haven't seen in years. Gotta love the Gunny and his yellins.

Yeah I finished Willard that night, and I had forgotten how awesome a movie it was. Crispin Glovers best film, in my opinion.
